    Women in Exile

How are women affected in exile? Does exile mean renewal and freedom or does it only mean another form of oppression? Does she have any choice in the new society? Sometimes, women come from rural or underdeveloped countries to a new life with other life and family structure. How does her life change? How does she adapt herself to the new structure? 'Women in Exile' is the special theme for the 5th International Exile Film Festival, and it focuses on the situation of women through a series of documentary and story films.

    Peace

At present there are about 25 wars and armed-conflicts going on around the world. Over half a million people die in massacres, bomb attacks and hunger due to these wars. Many of them are forgotten by the west, but they are still going on in the background, among which the wars between Ethiopia and Eritrea, in Afghanistan, Turkey, Algeria and the Philippines.

To honor "peace" and human´s right to live in peace, the Exile Film Festival presents a series of short, fiction and animated films about peace. They are primarily addressed to children and the young. We show 30 animated films from France, Holland, Canada, Italy, Germany, England, Hungary, Austria, Egypt, the Philippines, Norway, Brasilia, Russia, Poland and Sweden.

He is one of the first photographers to be in the place when an incident shakes the world. He witnesses with his pictures and humane looks. His shocking pictures of the vanished children in Rwanda or massacre of the people in the Gulf War can not be forgotten. Reza´s exhibition - The Memories of Exile - embraces thousands of people from Kurdistan to Cambodia and Pakistan to Sudan; they have suffered the loss of their land and fought for retaining or regaining it. The Memories of Exile witnesses war, racism and oppression, which have forced thousands of people to flee all over the world. They are guilty only because they belong to a certain social, political, ethnic or religious group. It is a manifestation for peace and humane esteem. This exhibition was first shown in the Louvre in Paris. It attracted many in the world and since then has toured round the world. The Exile Film Festival has the honor of having this exhibition during the 5th arrangement.

    Seminar/Lectures

In conjunction with the festival’s main program a seminar on the subject ‘The Art of Exile Film’ will be arranged. The term ‘exile’ is no longer used in the conventional definition of the word. Today certain filmmakers and artists define the word ‘exile’ as being a question of identity even within their own countries. This concept will be discussed in a seminar, to which speakers will be invited.
Concerning the festival´s special program ‘Women in Exile’ a seminar on this subject will be held.
